President’s Farewell Address
It has been my honor and pleasure to serve as your President since 2013. I have been blessed with a Board (Executive Committee) filled by women with hearts of servants. To Anne and Eleanore - I’m only a member because you invited me. Thank you for opening these doors to a new chapter in my life. To Jennifer F. - your vivacious and enthusiastic cheerleading for CCW has inspired me to stretch myself. To Maryanne, Kari, and Candy - thank you for diligently keeping CCW in the black, despite our tendency to wander dangerously close to the red zone. To Peggy and Catherine - bless you for keeping our records straight! To Susan and Vickie and Suzanne - your organizational skills have kept CCW moving ahead seamlessly. To Vicky - you’re always ahead of me; making certain that our affiliation is welcoming and consoling when need be; you promote our fiscal success with joy and tenacity! To Ellen - you’re a rock; a source of continuity and always willing to share sage advice; our parish and local families owe you a huge debt of gratitude, even if they don’t know who Santa really is! To Arlene - your generous heart extends the reach of our little affiliation into our community, thank you for reminding us to be charitable to the least of our neighbors. To Janet - you widened our worldly vision by bringing Catholic Relief Services and Fair Trade to our affiliation and now with Mary Meal’s, bringing to us the story of how saying “yes” to God can change the world in the places that need God’s love the most. To Cheryl and Pam - you’ve kept our eyes and hearts fixed on Mary and the Lord to guide and guard us in our many works. To LaVon - thank you for taking up the mantle of advocacy, a major work of mercy and the prime reason that the U.S. Bishops instituted the Council of Catholic Women 96 years ago. These women have given of themselves tirelessly, with love and devotion to the many works of your CCW. I thank them all from the bottom of my heart for making it always look easy and beautiful - whatever "it" was. To all the special project leaders - i.e., the Chairs of the Backpack Drive, Blessing of the Pets, Dove Tree, Angel Trees, Yard Sales, Council Sunday, Pro-Life Rosary Walk, Family Stations of the Cross, Crystal and Sapphire Retreats, Mary & Me Teas, Book Club gatherings, and all the various projects sponsored and hosted by CCW - you have given of yourselves with the hearts of Mary and the hands of Martha. Bless you all!!! All that CCW is to our parish and community exists because of YOU! Please welcome your new Officers with wide open arms! President - Jennifer DeGelleke; Vice-President - LaVon LeGrand; Recording Secretary - Theresa Brush; Treasurer - Candace Murray; Deanery Representative - Jennifer Foristall. Embrace the fresh new projects and creative spins for ongoing projects that our new CCW Board is certain to bring to life in 2016-2018! St. Maximilian Kolbe - Pray for Us!
