President's Ponderings
Welcome to a new year of St Joseph’s Council of Catholic Women!
Willing the Good of Another
As we kick off a new season, the underlying theme of our focus pervades all aspects of our organization.
Our educational programs have been built around this motif of caring for self and others, as can be seen by topics including respite care, human trafficking, mental health issues, health concerns, and the 7-Sisters Apostolate that prays for our priests.
Our projects have also demonstrated a continuing care for community, loved ones, and even our furry friends by our many outreach opportunities including the Pet Blessing, Backpack Drive, Angel Tree, the Candle Project, Knight’s Pantry, Good Night-Sleep Tight, and multiple parish building events.
Your council is also committed to willing the spiritual growth of others as seen by the Adoration Crawl, the May Crowning Processional, the gifts we present to our First Communicants and Confirmadi, and the new Book Studies that are on the way in the new year.
Lastly, Willing the Good of Another is to enter into community with one another. We began a new facet of Council last year by focusing on playdates. These outings have been incredibly popular with a wide variety of events to bond with our Council Sisters. These have or will include: Karaoke Night at Pilars, Crafting opportunities, Bunco fun, Axe throwing, Artistic Endeavors, and the Festival of the Trees at the Orlando Museum of Art. We have also been working at developing a support system for Council members who need rides or who just need a line of communication in the event help is needed.
Council is deepening its ability to love- as Jesus loves- as we will the good and beautiful growth of one another, and of our community at large. You are warmly welcomed to join in this beautiful Council as you, undoubtedly, have unique gifts and skills that would allow us to be an ever more powerful example of Christ’s hands and feet in the world.
Love and Blessings,
LeAnne Garretson-Tran
